Trades union councils generally aim to: Raise public awareness of rights at work and the union role in enforcing those rights; Promote organising and recruitment drives to build union membership; Support union and community campaigns for dignity and respect in the workplace and beyond.

Report on Leeds Against the Cuts Meeting Tonight

The Leeds against the Cuts meeting decided today to cancel the demonstration it had planned for Leeds on Saturday 23 October 2010 and fully support the regional TUC demonstration in Sheffield on the same day at 12:30 outside Sheffield town hall on pinstone street.

The Leeds against the Cuts group is currently organising coaches to Sheffield from Leeds and encourages all people against the cuts in Leeds to come and demonstrate in Sheffield and make it a big show of public opposition to the cuts and the ideogical agenda of the Tory coalition.

Full details will be announced on this website soon about where to go on Saturday in Leeds to board a coach to the demonstration in Sheffield.

It was also decided that in order to advertise the Demonstrations in Leeds on Wednesday 20 October 2010 in Leeds and in Sheffield on 23 October 2010 that there would be a stall in Leeds City Centre on Briggate.
